photo_library Photos by @jessicasample | Record rainfall has caused another rare “super bloom” of wildflowers across Southern California. In addition to the vibrant orange California poppies you can see mustard and chia flowers among others. Visit during the week to avoid crowds and always be respectful of nature by not stepping on the flowers. #superbloom #lakeelsinore #walkercanyon

play_circle_filled Video by Matthew Borowick @mborowick | Sigöldugljufur canyon is one of those gems many visitors miss when they travel to Iceland. It’s hiding in plain sight, just off the road to Landmannalaugar in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve. It will require a 4x4 vehicle to make it there, but if you do manage it, the view is an incredible slice of magic in an already unbelievable landscape. #iceland #drone #waterfall #nature #travel

Photo by @acacia.johnson | Sunset illuminates the frozen seascape outside the navigational bridge of an expedition ship in Svalbard. This arctic island archipelago, about halfway between Norway and the North Pole, is a haven for arctic wildlife that relies on a healthy sea ice ecosystem. Within the past decade, the sea ice on the west coast of the archipelago has begun to melt as early as March, a full two months earlier than historic standards. While this is bad news for the ecosystem, it means that the region can now be navigated by ship in the ethereal light of early spring, opening opportunities for exploration and photography that were never before possible. Photo by @MartinEdstrom | Yurts, caravans and Russian Lada cars spot the arid landscape of the Tien Shan mountain range. The wind whips about your clothing, but during short moments of stillness you can always hear a horse close by. They run free here. These plains, in remote Kyrgyzstan, are home to but a few nomads that divide their year between grazing horses in these mountainous valleys during summer and then coming back to the city to spend the winter. Follow @MartinEdstrom for more stories from remote Kyrgyzstan.

Photo by @Sofia_Jaramillo5 | A photo taken near Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve in Idaho. The preserve is home to about 618 square miles of volcanic formations and lava flows in south central Idaho. It's one of my favorite places to drive by as there is an ocean of lava rock as far as the eye can see.

Photo by @max.lowe | The contrast of light and dark that I find in the mountains is one of the reasons I have chosen to spend a good majority of my life, living and moving within them. This scene in while back-county skiing in interior British Columbia was a prime example, few other circumstances give the world the same level of depth and feeling as mountains shrouded in a full spectrum of light and dark.

The ocean sustains this coastal community, and its patterns influence the lifestyles of the local people. Photo by @simonnorfolkstudio I Kamchatka brown bears (Ursus arctos beringianus) are the largest carnivores in Eurasia. Here photographed emerging from steam in the Valley of The Geysers in Russia's Kamchatka peninsular. The first Europeans who went to Kamchatka observed that the bears here were relatively harmless compared to their Siberian counterparts. However, in 2008, a platinum-mining community in the region was besieged by a sleuth of bears who killed two guards and prevented workers from leaving their homes. Kamchatka remained closed to Soviet citizens until 1989 and to foreigners until 1990 and the bear population thrived to that point, but since the demise of the Soviet Union and the opening up of the region to mineral exploitation and international trophy hunting, the bear population has been put under pressure.
